In line with the orientation of the Bologna study reform, the doctoral study in Biomedicine is designed as a three-year third cycle study and comprises 180 ECTS. The focus is on the research work, interdisciplinarity and cooperation of internationally recognized home and foreign experts.

SUBJECT: Application for consent to dissertation theme
At the initiative of several members and based on frequent student questions the Commission for Doctoral Studies decided to again inform all higher education institutions with valid regulations and accepted opinion of University of Ljubljana, concerning continuation of study after attained Masters Degree or approved direct transfer to doctoral studies after old study programmes (before the Bologna Reform).
The Commission for Doctoral Studies wishes to inform all the members of UL that no more consents will be given out to doctoral dissertation topics of the old programme for the candidates that applied after October 1, 2009 and who earlier broke off the study for more than two years. The agreement is accepted in accordance with Acts 156 and 157 of the statute of University of Ljubljana and adopted "Information for students about finishing studies by the old programmes and integration to new programmes" (forwarded to members on June 15, 2009 and posted on the web page of UL in June 2009:
