Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are emerging as central mediators of intercellular communication, yet many fundamental aspects of EV biology remain poorly understood. Our laboratory investigates the cellular mechanisms that regulate EV biogenesis, cargo composition, and biological function, and how these processes are reshaped by changes in cellular state. We use HIV infection as a model system because viruses exploit and remodel many of the same cellular pathways, providing unique opportunities to reveal fundamental mechanisms of EV biology. In parallel, we develop robust methodologies to improve the reproducibility of EV research and collaborate with clinical partners to advance the application of EVs as biomarkers in clinically relevant diseases.
