Single-cycle master degree programme Medicine

 

The Integrated Master’s Course in Medicine lasts 6 years (12 semesters) and comprises 360 credits. Each year of study comprises 60 credits: 54 credits from compulsory subjects and 6 credits from optional subjects.

During their studies, the student acquires skills specific to the field of medicine, as follows:

  • a knowledge of the molecular basis and mechanisms of normal and pathological functioning of the human organism
  • a knowledge of normal and pathological structure at the level of the cell and of the human organism
  • a knowledge of the basic biological, behavioural and social factors of health and the development of disease
  • an understanding of the place and role of medicine in society
  • the ability to relate to the patient
  • an understanding of the methods for dealing with public health issues
  • a knowledge of the basic principles underlying patient care
  • the ability to examine a patient
  • an understanding of the role of the environment in the occurrence and development of disease
  • an understanding of medical conditions and their signs and symptoms
  • an understanding of the role of lifestyle in the occurrence and development of disease
  • a knowledge of the diagnostics and treatment of disease
  • an understanding of disease prevention and rehabilitation
  • an ability to integrate knowledge and skills into patient-centred work at hospital, in a clinic or at home
  • the ability to carry out scientific research work in the field of medicine.

These skills enable the graduate to carry out professional work and tasks in the field of medicine; at the same time, they enable them to undertake further advanced specialist study or continue on towards a doctorate (3rd level). A graduate of the course acquires the title of Doctor of Medicine (dr. med.).
 

Up to one year after completing the course, the graduate may take the Clinical Comprehensive Science Examination (CCSE).
